The Federal Government has come through for downtown merchants in creating more work for locals – who can get hired to paint the town red..or whatever colours and patterns are decided upon by Store owners and merchants.

The announcement was made today November 10 by MP Colin Mayse (former Mayor of Salmon Arm) of $150,000 dollars of funding for a two year program that sees local merchants, Pittsburgh Paints, and the Federal government funding a project that might amount to $300,000 in total cost. The idea was proposed by Alberto and Tracy Veintimilla of Alberto’s Paint and Decorating to polish the downtown area into something more attractive with southwest colours.  The Town of Oliver co-ordinated the grant application and it was successful in attacting the Federal Program to the area.
